We print messages on our yogurt lids — millions of lids each month — to tell our yogurt lovers about nonprofit environmental efforts, farming and health issues, and other issues and events we care about. It’s one way we use the power of business to help keep people and the planet healthy.
Below are a few of our past lid messages.
This lid message invited our fans to join us in a virtual global warming March on Washington. With hundreds of thousands of Americans, our CE-Yo Gary cyber-marched across the U.S. to help call for strong global-warming legislation.
Each year, through our Bid with Your Lid program, we ask our yogurt lovers to vote to determine how we should divvy up a big donation between three different environmental efforts. In 2008, the vote sent $40,822 to Ocean Conservancy, $29,703 to Worldwatch Institute, and $29,475 to Physicians for Social Responsibility.

When Congress was reshaping the nation’s Farm Bill in 2007, this lid helped to urge millions of Americans to ask Washington for more food and energy choices, more profitability for family farms and communities, and more earth-friendly farming.
This lid message spread the word about Preserve®, a great company that recycles our yogurt cups and keeps tons of plastic from landfills. Preserve makes 100% recycled household products, like toothbrushes, razors, tongue cleaners, and spoons.
With this lid message, we helped Environmental Defense collect more than half a million signatures in support of stronger global-warming legislation.
This lid helped to draw listeners to, and generate support for, public radio’s weekly environmental news and information show Living on Earth®.
Nearly 50% of the nation’s eligible voters didn’t vote in 2000. In 2004, we produced millions of these lids to help get the vote out. The lid promoted easy voter registration through our website.
We helped Environmental Working Group, a nonprofit environmental-research organization, develop the Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides. This lid message told our yogurt lovers about the guide.
We helped to launch Climate Counts, a nonprofit that scores companies on their efforts to fight climate change. This lid encouraged our fans to use Climate Counts scores to support companies that take climate change seriously.
This lid told yogurt lovers about our Profits for the Planet program, through which we donate 10% of our profits to efforts that help protect and restore the planet.
